I like that you make a distinction between media relations and public relations. I think it is a misconception that they&#039;re one in the same. 

To piggyback on the social media points that you made, I think gaining traditional media placements is still important. Media placements provide increased credibility and it is likely that bloggers covering that industry will link to the article, comment on the news and give it legs online.

Lots of people submit complaints to consumerist, and quite often the company will respond. In other words, their site brings attention to the situation. Enough to make the company correct whatever mistake they made.</description>
