Firstly connecting to Google.com defaulted to Google.com.au, as it has done frustratingly for ages.
(writing to Google or my service provider did not even rate an answer)

Secondly my Firefox Google Global pluggin only ever worked once.

After updating both my browser and the latest bug fix still nothing worked.

Then I found a fix that worked for me.

On this page,
http://www.google.com/support/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=873
I found this link,
http://www.google.com/ncr
which seemed to bypass Google.com.au for me.

Strangely, typing in http://www.google.com did not redirect to the Australian
version anymore.

I found also that my Firefox Google Global pluggin now seemed to work also.

Spooks in the mist I guess?

But alas, after closing and reloading Firefox I was back to my old auto redirect
and faulty Google Global pluggin.

So, back to this page,
http://www.google.com/ncr
and we are working as preferred again.

This time I edited my bookmark entry to add the “/ncr”

No idea why this works, but there you go. Firefox Google Global pluggin
is working perfectly, and I can get the results I prefer.

Hopefully that will provide you some insight into the root of this ongoing bug. I am running Firefox 3.5.5 on XP OS.

I hope that’s not the source of the current problem…as in…sh’ld we upgrade our FF browsers?

PS IS there any definitive discussion on how Google regionalises results? Quite frankly the way Google is doing it really p%^&sses me off and I know it does for a lot other people.

If I wanted local results I could walk down the street or use the yellow pages. The whole point of a search engine was so that y ou could find out what else was out there outside of your own neighbourhood, or in a place like Australia outside of your country.

Hello there! Unfortunately the bug fix has not worked for me. I am running xp and have tried uninstalling and re intsalling several times. have tired shutting down the PC and rebooting but to no avail??? Still get the same Alert message “Please navigate t a Google search results page” After 2 hours I have had enough. Hope someone comes up with a solution. Thanks”

I use Fire Fox all the time and have had no problems with the new version, but I have had a few people complaining about it, but for me its just great and thanks for the tips that you shared.

However it doesn’t seem to install at all.
I don’t get any errors but it doesn’t appear in the add-on list. I’ve sent you a message through your website (just now) and then found this page but even with this download the same thing happens.

I love this add-on and I’m so disappointed that I can’t get it to work at the moment.

If you have any suggestions to help me out I’d be grateful!

It works for me at the beginning but one week after I had install it… stopped working.
Is there any thing you guys recommend me to do? I’ve already tried to uninstall and install again but it didn’t work.

However when I’m looking at results from google.com.au and I want to use the extension to get USA results, the extension won’t let me. “Please navigate to a Google results page” message comes up.

So I have to go to goole.com.au and click to use google.com instead, then I can use the extension.

I’ve installed the 2.04 version from here, but the about box on the extension says 2.0 so perhaps it didn’t upgrade as expected.

Any ideas for me to try?
